我々の思考を組み立てている「言葉」と
なんと便利なものなのでしょう。
歓喜や怒り、悲しみ、そして心にもない嘘まで
人に伝えることができる。
しかし、言葉では表現しきれないものがあります。
心の深いところにある感情、
言葉では伝えられない、言葉にならない思い。
そんな思いはその人の真実なのだろうと思います。
そんな、「あまりにも深いところにある思い」を
表現していけたらと思います。
ARTIST STATEMENT
TAMURA Shigenao
How convenient "words" are!
They build up our thought.
We can convey our delight, ecstasy,
anger, sadness and even a lie we don't mean.
But then there is something
that we are never able to express by words.
Feelings in the deep place of one's mind,
feelings which one can not convey by words,
feelings which are not able to be built up by words ….
I think those feelings are one's truth.
I'd like to express these
"Feelings in the so deep part of one's spirit".
■ 作品コンセプト ■
われわれ文明は壁を創造し、仕切られた空間を手にしました。私はその文明の象徴としての壁や、中心テーマである人類の遺伝子をテーマに「我々は海から来た」を制作しています。
例外はあるが、大多数の民族、国家、宗教は生命の尊さや平和の大切さを唱え、我々はしかもそれが普遍的なものであるかのように受け入れている、しかし、その帰属する社会・集団の利益のために何を優先させるかという価値観によって我々の理解は大きく変わり、そして行動する。それは生き残っていくための生物の本能という遺伝子の記憶なのでしょう。
我々人類にとって真に普遍的な価値、それは幻想なのかもしれません。
しかしながら平和の大切さを信じている人類の言葉にならない深い思いだけは真実であるのかもしれません。
Our civilization has acquired the partitioned space by creating "the wall".
I've been creating my works, series "We're from the sea" that themes are "the wall" the symbol
of the civilization and "the gene" which is my main theme.
Most nations, states and religions suggest the preciousness of life or the importance of peace
even though there are exceptions, accept it as if it were universal.
But our appreciation is much changed by sense of values; what we give priority to for the profit
of the group we belong to, and we act. I suppose it is the gene's memory (life's instinct) in order to survive.
The genuine universal worth for human beings may be only the illusion.
But the only deep feeling of believing the importance of peace, that we can't express by words, may be true.
